T+ 21 days and counting…

by Gregg on May 6, 2009

We’re still waiting on word from the USDA. I’m thinking we can’t wait any longer if we’re going to get the ecommerce site up and running and get folks onboard.

USDA says April 15th!

by Gregg on April 2, 2009

We learned through our contact at the USDA that they will have a decision on our grant application by April 15th! They’ve received many applications so competition for the money is tight. In these economic times it’s understandable there many people looking for funding of their ideas. Rest assured we will seek alternate ways of funding this project if our grant application is turned down!

It’s in - now what?

by Gregg on March 6, 2009

So I’m here in the dining room and remember that I haven’t posted in a several days. I needed a bit of down time between the last week flurry of activity and today. But it doesn’t mean I’ve stopped working.

The grant proposal was submitted on Monday by Sam Matthews of the CVEDC. Yay! And thank you!

We have 16 business signed on to the project. There are inquiries coming in from all over the State - this is great! [click to continue…]

Update on the grant application

by Gregg on February 26, 2009

Wow. That’s what we’re saying - wow! The support for this project is spreading quickly. We’re hearing from people we didn’t contact ourselves. We know several folks (thank you Martha, thank you Peggy, thank you Jennifer) have spread the word among their communities and we’re very grateful.

To date we’ve nearly reached the requisite 15 initial vendors from Washington County and we’re hearing from many more outside of the area. It’s worth repeating the scope of the grant is for Washington County and the success of the initial 15 vendors will be the yardstick by which the success of the grant is measured BUT the project is open to vendors outside of Washington County as well!

We hope you consider joining this project. We’re very excited by the responses and the team is raring to go. If you’re a producer of Vermont made products and would like to get involved, please contact Sam Matthews at CVEDC (802-223-4654 or cvedcevp at sover.net).

About Jurying

by Gregg on February 24, 2009

We’re getting a lot of questions regarding jurying. The short answer is yes. Our intent is to sell high quality products. The long answer is we have yet to determine the standards for jurying. We’re looking for help from the producers of Vermont made products in the form of an Advisory Board.

We’re looking for 15 artisans, producers to join the Market Vermont project by Feb 27th!

The deadline for the grant we’re applying for (see the presentation summary) is coming up quick and we need to have letters of commitment from businesses in the Central Vermont area. We’re focused on Central Vermont because the focus of the grant is Washington County. The project is open to all areas of the State but success is measured by how well this project helps the participating businesses of Washington County.

The types of businesses we’re looking for are producers of Vermont made products. The set-up fee is not due until the Grant has been awarded, which should be in the April-May timeframe. We hope to begin the project as soon as we receive the award.

If you’re a producer of a Vermont product and are interested in learning about how to participate, please contact Sam Matthews of CVEDC at 802-223-4654 (cvedcevp@sover.net) as soon as possible. Our deadline for letters indicating commitment from interested businesses is by Feb. 27, 2009.
